An email we received:“I have been sharing your website with friends and acquaintances because I think what you are doing has such value. It is so easy to let yourself fall into a trap of thinking that you are just a mom. I remember thinking as I graduated from high school that I could do anything. I had great thoughts, ideas, and aspirations. I felt I could conquer the world. Now, having four kids, it is too easy to get caught up in day-to-day stuff and forget our purpose as we are so focused on laundry, cooking, and errands, which as you know is so frustrating because it is all undone faster than we can finish. I love your website because it helps me to remember my higher purpose. Thanks for all you do!”

A blog post:My journey of self-discovery escalated quickly upon the birth of my daughter. I am willing to bet that happens to most new parents. Your child is born and reality smacks you right in the face. BOOM. Now you’re a parent and you’re expected to lead this soul into adulthood. And we want more for our child than just to survive. We want her to be a smart, committed, dedicated, thriving, creative and productive member of society. How we’re going to get there is a work in progress.
Recently I was referred to a website called the Power of Moms. It is a gathering place for “Deliberate Mothers.” I absolutely love this idea of “deliberate” parenting and motherhood. Power of Moms is run by and attracts women of all ages and backgrounds who are linked by their desire to inspire action and growth into their lives, and into the lives of their families. You’ll discover well-written articles, blogs, learning and organizational tools as well as family-building resources. This is a professional organization for moms who take motherhood seriously. Please check out the Power of Moms community. Let’s grow as women, as mothers, so that we can help our children grow as people. – Shannon Fergusen – http://shferguson.com/2011/05/03/the-power-of-moms/
