Where:
Margaret Archibald has graciously agreed to host us at her lovely home right on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee. Her home is about 2 hours from Boston and the Boston airport and about 1.5 hours from the Manchester, NH airport. Directions to the Archibald home will be sent to all registered attendees.
When and What:
You may attend either or both days of this Retreat on October 21-22, 2011 – but we highly recommend that you come to the whole thing!
Schedule and Topics
Join us Friday, October 21st from 1:00pm-6:00pm for excellent discussions on these topics:
- Taking Care of the “Me” in the Mom: Filling your well and embracing your own purpose and interests while being your own kind of perfect mother
- Five Steps to Less Stress: Practical principles to help you organize your time, tasks and brain in a more productive, less stressful way.
Join us Saturday, October 22st from 9:00am – 5:00pm for these topics:
- Deliberate Mothering: Keynote speech by our hostess, Margaret Archibald. Margaret has raised 7 sons and one daughter while supporting her husband, Nolan, through all the stages of his very successful business career. Margaret is a real champion of motherhood and has co-authored the book, An Emotional First-Aid Kit for Mothers.
- Family Systems: Assessing your needs and desires for your children and family so you can create systems that will take your family where you want to go, concrete steps for establishing your own unique family economy, family discipline system and family identity
- In-depth small-group discussions: Share and learn tried-and-true ideas for really applying the principles
- you’ve learned on Friday or at a previous Retreat. Discussion topics will include teaching children to work and to understand money, discipline methods, finding more joy in motherhood, prioritizing in a world of so many choices (extracurriculuar activities for moms and kids), creating great family traditions, building strong parenting partnerships with our husbands. Many have said that these small-group discussions are their favorite parts of Retreats.
Friday Dinner: For those spending the night in the area on Friday night, we’ll a fixed-price dinner option at a wonderful local restaurant or at the Archibald home where you can enjoy informal discussion and fun with other Retreat attendees. We anticipate that this dinner will be about $20. Further information will be sent to all who register.
Other Retreat Elements
- Great food (a lovely lunch is included on Saturday and there will be snacks and treats during both days of the event)
- The chance to connect with and learn from other attendees
- Plenty of laughter
- Free gifts that will help you truly implement all that you’ve learned at the Retreat
- Although we’d love to have a huge slumber party, lodging is NOT included for this Retreat.
Hotel: We’ve reserved as many rooms as were available (sadly, only 12) at the lovely Wolfeboro Inn (about 5 minutes from the Archibald home) for those who’d like to spend Friday night. Rooms are also available on Thursday and Saturday nights. Our special discounted Power of Moms room rate is $169/room for a room with one queen bed. These rooms are first-come, first-serve and will only be held through September 24th (rooms may be available after that time but they cannot guarantee there will be rooms available). Call 866-979-0828 and ask for a room in the reserved Power of Moms block. If the Wolfboro Inn is full, other good options include The Lake Motel and 123 North Main Bed and Breakfast.
Why:
Motherhood is a serious career. But it’s a career with precious few career-development opportunities. We at The Power of Moms feel that mothers need opportunities for networking and discussing best practices just like members of every other profession need these opportunities. That’s what our Retreats are all about. Check out some quotes and blog posts from those who attended our similar April and May Park City Retreats HERE and our New England Retreat last year HERE. Words like “life-changing,” “intensely meaningful,” and “truly fabulous” are common in comments from Retreat attendees.
*** If you choose to attend as a Trainer-in-Training, you will go home ready to make a real difference presenting Power of Moms trainings and Retreats using our materials. Click here to learn more about being a Trainer.

Registration:
Because we’re gathering at the Archibald home, we’ll need to limit the number of attendees to the nice intimate size of about 30 attendees.
After you pay, we’ll send you a confirmation and further information.
*Coming Alone: About 1/2 of the women who attend our Retreats come by themselves and report that they’ve felt totally comfortable and have quickly and easily made meaningful friendships. Feel free to come on your own! Once you’re registered, we’ll be glad to help you find someone to share a hotel room with if you like.
**Nursing Mothers: Mothers with non-mobile, generally quiet nursing babies are most welcome to attend. They should plan to take the baby out if he or she becomes disruptive. Due to space restrictions, strollers are discouraged.
***Cancellation Policy: We do offer a full refund if you cancel at least a month in advance – this gives us time to fill your place. If you find you must cancel less than a month before the event, we can credit what you paid towards a future Retreat or offer you a half-price refund – whichever you’d prefer. If someone else wants to take your place (someone you know or someone from our waiting list – if we have one), we are happy to refund your money in full up to 10 days in advance of the Retreat.
If you have questions, concerns or special circumstances, contact us. We’ll do everything we can to make it possible for you to attend.
