Would you like an hour or so of quiet time each day to nap, complete a project, read, exercise, or do something else that is important to you while your children are happily occupied, doing their own thing?
Yes, your life is most likely complicated, and every idea featured in the podcast below might not work for you, but this basic principle is important for every mom–whether you’re working outside or inside the home, juggling one child or several, feeling “on top of things” or feeling out of control: mothers need (and deserve) down-time and rest.

This is the post that brought me to Power of Mom’s several years ago. I had searched online for quiet time ideas as my oldest was just transitioning from nap to quiet time. I remember being thrilled to find someone who thought the same way I did about the importance of quiet time! I loved all the details you spelled out. Quiet time is essential in our home! It happens all the time and is a huge part of the structure of our day.
Now, I listened to this post while my 4th child was struggling to fall asleep. Your sweet and calming voice put him to sleep within minutes! THANK YOU!
Thanks so much, Star! Glad this podcast helped put your son to sleep. 🙂 So funny.
I felt kind of hesitant to tell everyone how much I love sleep, but wow does it make a difference in my life. So glad to have you as part of our Power of Moms community!

Sleep! Glorious sleep! I am a better person when I give myself the permission to indulge in a nap while my daughter naps. I feel refreshed and ready take on the rest of the day. However, being a stay at home mom, J used to feel so guilty because there was so much to get done! I soon learned that I was actually less productive without the daily naps. We mothers deserve to be well rested for our families and for our health! Love this post! Thanks for the permission to rest ☺️
Great topic! 3 minutes into it, my 3 y.o. woke up from his nap =) In his deffense, he will nap most days and he had already been down for about 1 1/2 hours =) Yes, I did rest and got some things done – but never enough time alone!
