In a recent survey of our community, we found that entitlement and a lack of gratitude was a big concern. How can we help our children really acknowledge the good in their lives? How can we help them avoid the “compare snare” that convinces them that every other kid has better stuff and less responsibilities than they do?
We posted this question to our Facebook community:
“What ACTUALLY works when it comes to instilling gratitude in your children and helping them to become less “entitled.” It’s incredibly common for children to think they “need” everything–and “deserve” everything. And the little pleasures that we loved as kids may not seem like enough to our children–especially when we factor in everything they’re seeing on social media, on TV, and online. But there has to be hope, right? What have you seen real families do to raise grateful, thoughtful children?”
In this week’s episode, Saren and April share some of the great responses we received plus talk through some ideas that have really helped pump up gratitude and tone down entitlement in their own families.
