Sometimes I (April) struggle to help my children set and achieve goals. I want them to be excited about life, and I want them to progress within their areas of interest, but the whole process can feel a bit overwhelming.
So I teamed up with DeAnne Flynn, an inspiring mother of seven children (ages 8-22), who had tons of great tips to share. I thought I would feel stressed out by the end since there is so much I am not doing. But guess what! It’s not as hard as I thought.
We teach our children to help out around the house. We don’t solve all their problems for them. We let them be bored sometimes. We pull back a bit as a parent. We breathe. We relax.
That, I can totally do.
DeAnne has wonderful ideas I know you’ll love. Enjoy the podcast! (And you can visit her on her website, www.deanneflynn.com.)

This podcast was exactly what I needed today. I live in an extremely competitive area where it seems like everyone’s children are taking private lessons and practically professional by the time they hit high school. Finding the balance between setting goals and achieving and going overboard and burning out is a lifelong process for me, and now I have to try and teach these life-saving skills to my kids. I really appreciate the words of wisdom and sound advice in this podcast. It really helps put things in perspective and brings empowerment instead of anxiety. Thank you!

I was not able to listen to this because Deanne’s portion was too quiet. I noticed the same thing about the previous podcast. I hope you can do something to fix it because I would like to listen.

Hi Stacie,
We are so sorry you couldn’t hear it very well. I would recommend trying it on a phone if you have one through a podcast app like the iPhone podcast app or Stitcher. It seems to work better that way for some reason.
